Female Inflation

Amy peeled the wrapper open. Staring at the bright blue stick of gum, she went over what the shop owner had told her.

“It’s just like the film, you’ll get the full experience. Tomato soup, roast beef, and then some blueberry pie to finish it off. That’s when the swelling will start.”

He had to be joking, right? She must have just taken him too seriously, he was obviously just making a reference… But what if the gum really worked?

So I met this girl while running some Arrands one day. Had to stop and grab some flowers to drop off at the nursing home so I stopped by the local flourist. 

"Not enough mana? Preposterous!"

Anna paced the room, frustration oozing from her every movement. She cast a venomous look at the grimoire that sat, open and innocent, on her bedside table. The tagged page that stared up at the ceiling bore a long, complex spell, written in a tongue not often spoken by mortals. The language of demons, taboo as it was, was a beautiful language as poetic as it was complicated, and it was vital to casting many spells of overwhelming power. At that moment, the ancient characters seemed to mock her, dancing across the page in fading candlelight.

While the Manniver family had safely gotten through the hurricane, the mermaid they discovered in their backyard the morning after didn’t appear so lucky.
